Pfizer vaccine very effective after 2nd injection, according to initial data

The vaccine was found to be about 99% effective in preventing hospitalization, serious illness and death two weeks after the second dose was given, new data from the ministry show. The vaccine administration protocol includes two injections three weeks apart.

Israel is the first country in the world to conclusively demonstrate the effect of the vaccine in the real world, having inoculated a greater proportion of its 9.3 million citizens than any other country.

Two weeks after the second dose, the efficacy is 95.8% in preventing people from contracting the coronavirus; 98% for preventing fever and breathing difficulties and 98.9%, 99.2 and 98.9% respectively for preventing hospitalizations, serious illnesses and deaths.
