Pierre Guthrie enjoys an incandescent race that “smiles” in the rain, but does not win a prize / F1 Monaco GP “Final” 2022 | Formula1-Data / F1 breaking news commentary

Scuderia AlphaTauri’s Pierre Guthrie started in 17th place but made a number of overtakes in Monte Carlo, finishing in 11th place, one step closer to the point.

I smiled in spite of the rain

Pierre GuthrieFinal: 11th, Grid: 17th

I think the result of starting in 17th place and finishing in 11th place is satisfactory considering that this is Monaco and the course layout.

When I saw it starting to rain on the grid, I suddenly smiled. I thought it was an opportunity to move forward if I might try something different from my rivals and do it well.

I had nothing to lose, so I took the risk and put on intermediate tires on the first lap. The pace was good and I overtook some of them. It was really exciting.

Of course, the condition was tricky and it was a slippery situation, but it was really fun. Pushing to the limit, oh, it feels like this is F1!

It’s a shame that I mightn’t get the points at the last minute because of the practice and the speed of the race this weekend. I just took it for granted.

Sergio Perez (Red Bull), who started from the 3rd grid, won his 3rd victory in the 2022 F1 Round 7 Monaco GP final race held on Sunday, May 29th at the Monte Carlo city course. Second place is Carlos Sainz (Ferrari). Max Verstappen (Red Bull) slipped into the podium in 3rd place.

The next round of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, set in the Baku city course, will begin with free run 1 on June 10.
