Jakarta – The world of anime and tokusatsu mourns the loss of Nobuo Yamada, known to fans as NOB, the legendary vocalist behind the opening theme song for the global hit anime “Saint Seiya.” He passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 61, after a long battle with kidney cancer.
The news was confirmed by his agency, Mojost, who announced his passing on August 13, 2025. NOB had bravely fought the disease for years, facing a previous diagnosis of brain tumors in April 2024.
NOB’s impact on the anime scene is undeniable.His soaring vocals on “Pegasus Fantasy” became an anthem for a generation.
