PM invites Chinese company to shift power plants from imported coal to local coal – Pakistan

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif invited the Chinese company Shanghai Electric to shift domestic power plants from imported coal to Thar coal.

A delegation of Shanghai Electronics Group headed by Chairman Shanghai Electronics Group Wu Li met the Prime Minister in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the various projects being run under the auspices of the Shanghai Al-Karak Group in Pakistan.

Thar Coal Block 1 Power Generation Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Meng Donghai also attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s determination to further promote friendly relations and economic cooperation with China.

Shanghai Electric Group is working on Thar Coal Mine Development and 1320 MW Coal Power Project in Pakistan.

The meeting was informed that Shanghai Electric Group is one of the major Chinese companies operating in Pakistan under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project and through Shanghai Electric Group’s projects in Pakistan, foreign exchange savings of $400 million are being saved annually.
