PNE AG: Wattmate Platform Drives Renewable Energy Marketing Success in 2025

Cuxhaven, Germany – PNE AG reported a successful 2025 for its Wattmate digital platform, supporting 80 wind, photovoltaic (PV), and battery storage projects totaling approximately 1.1 gigawatts of installed output, according to a company announcement released Monday.

The Wattmate platform, launched last year, has bolstered PNE’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)-as-a-Service business, reflecting a growing trend toward complex renewable power marketing. The company highlighted the increasing importance of maximizing revenue potential through diverse strategies, including long-term PPAs, project-specific marketing approaches, and the integration of different generator types.

“Marketing potential is increasingly determining the economic viability of a project,” stated Nils Kompe, Head of Power Origination & Green Markets at PNE. “Standard assumptions often fall short in this regard. In future, project-specific, market-oriented and cross-technology marketing approaches will be in demand.”

A key emerging trend identified by PNE is the development of “Co-Location Battery Storage Systems” – battery storage integrated at the same site as renewable energy generation facilities. These systems, initially focused on photovoltaic projects, are now gaining traction in wind energy as well, offering the potential for more stable revenue streams and expanded marketing options.

Wattmate is designed to holistically address these evolving market dynamics, combining market transparency with expertise in structuring and operations, bridging the gap between project development, financing, and marketing, Kompe added.

PNE AG, listed on the SDAX, has over 30 years of experience in developing onshore and offshore wind farms and is expanding its focus to include photovoltaic projects and battery storage solutions. The company likewise provides services throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects and explores power-to-X technologies.

Alexander Lennemann, Head of Corporate Communications at PNE AG, and Christopher Rodler, Head of Investor Relations, were listed as contact persons for further inquiries.
