Before the departure of most automakers from the Russian Federation, vehicles for regional traffic police departments were chosen among the brands Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Solaris, UAZ Patriot and Lada Granta. Since 2019, contracts for the purchase of patrol cars have been held as part of the federal project “Road Safety”.
In 2022, the police did not announce tenders for the purchase of the necessary vehicles – the collapse in sales of new cars in Russia following the start of a special operation in Ukraine affected. In March, the Russian car market fell by 62.9%, in April – by 78.5%. The publication noted that the issue of providing the Ministry of Internal Affairs with equipment was taken under control by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
