Police find five people shot to death in a home in North Carolina

CLINTON, N.C. (AP) — Five people were found shot to death in a home in southeastern North Carolina on Thursday, police said.

Officers were called to a home outside Clinton near Garland Highway shortly before 1 a.m., Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said.

Upon arrival, he added, they found the people dead, with gunshot wounds.

The emergency call came from someone who knew the homeowner, Thornton said.

So far, police have no information regarding the suspect and do not know if the people in the home knew each other, he added.
