Police Investigate Abuse of Disabled Individuals at Facility in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon

The police launched an investigation following suspicion of abuse was captured at a facility for the disabled in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon.

Incheon Samsan Police Station booked Mr. A yesterday (31st) for confining 10 people with disabilities at an unreported facility in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon run by Mr. A, a religious man in his 60s.

At around 10:40 last night, the police received a report from an agency related to the disabled asking them to “accompany them to a facility suspected of abuse of the disabled,” and as a result of an on-site inspection, 10 disabled people in the facility were rescued.

The rescued 10 disabled people are dispersed and admitted to a shelter managed by the ward office.

The police are investigating the situation at the facility, including investigating the disabled person-related agency staff and local government officials as references.
