Political transition in Chad: The country in uncertainty 6 months before the presidential election

A year following the announcement of the death of Idriss Déby, Chad is still in political uncertainty. Since then, power has been taken over by his son Mahamat Idriss Deby, at the head of a transitional military council. The anniversary of the marshal’s disappearance is hardly celebrated in the country.

A mini-summit of the East African community was held this Thursday, April 21 in Nairobi, Kenya. The presidents of Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo met to discuss peace and security in eastern Congo. Difficult for all that to know the content of the discussions, the meeting having been held behind closed doors.

In Côte d’Ivoire, initiatives are multiplying to regularize informal work, which represents 80% of workers in the country. In the district of the plateau, the Town hall tries to offer a statute to those which one calls the “djosseur” or the “Naman”. These street guards who lived on tips from motorists will now be entitled to a monthly bonus.
