The Pope called on Christians to celebrate Christmas “with simplicity and without waste.”

During the Angelus prayer on the last Sunday of Advent, Pope Francis urged believers not to confuse Christmas with consumerism. He appealed to Christians to celebrate Christmas “with simplicity and without waste” and to include all those who are lonely in the celebration.

At the same time, the Pope made a call for peace. He expressly recalled the conflicts in Israel, Palestine and Ukraine. The head of the Catholic Church remembered all those people who suffer from poverty, hunger and slavery.

Christmas mass and blessing

Pope Francis celebrates the traditional Christmas mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome on Sunday. As in previous years, it starts at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, the Holy Father proclaims his Christmas message from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica and gives the traditional Urbi et Orbi blessing. (APA)
