Nearly 3,500 Quebec homes were still plunged into darkness overnight from Sunday to Monday, due to electrical outages on the Hydro-Québec network caused by strong winds which affected several sectors during the night.

The state company reported in its report shortly before 4 a.m. some 3,498 households without electricity, the majority of which were in Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Montérégie.

Thus, 1,441 Hydro-Québec customers were waiting to be reconnected in Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine, while the outages recorded in Quebec and Estrie were resolved.

In addition to some 1,234 customers who are without electricity in Montérégie, more than 530 homes were still affected by outages in Montreal, according to the state company’s report.

Dozens of families in Lanaudière, in the Laurentians, on the North Shore and in Center-du-Québec were also waiting for the restoration of electric power.

Hydro-Québec agents were still working Monday morning to resolve the problems inherent to the interruptions which have still not been restored in the province, it was added.
