Prater concert of the Wiener Symphoniker canceled due to strong wind – weather

Strong winds led to the cancellation of the “Vienna Prater Picnic” on Friday evening. The open-air concert by the Wiener Symphoniker should have started at 7 p.m. and herald the summer of culture in the Austrian capital. Numerous spectators had already spread out their picnic blankets on the Kaiserwiese. Due to a storm warning, the area in front of the Ferris wheel had to be cleared at short notice, reports “Vienna today“. According to “ZiB2” the storm swept over Vienna at just under 100 kilometers per hour. The next edition of the “Vienna Prater Picnic” is planned for June 30, 2023. On Friday evening, ORF showed Thursday’s dress rehearsal instead of the planned time-delayed live broadcast.
