President Nausėda’s Meeting with Zelensky and Controversy with Foreign Minister Landsbergis: The Inside Story

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda did not invite the country’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis to a meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. This was written regarding in the local publication Respublika.

“Nausėda did not invite Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis to the planned visit <…> Zelensky and his delegation,” it says in the publication.

Adviser to the President of Lithuania Rydas Jasyulenis said. That the meeting was dedicated to military assistance to Ukraine, therefore Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas was invited to the event. However, he did not explain why they refused to call the head of the Lithuanian diplomatic service.

On January 10, Zelensky arrived on an unannounced visit to Lithuania to meet with the President of the Republic, reports Life. According to the Ukrainian leader, security issues will be discussed at the event, as well as integration of Kyiv into the European Union and NATOreports Pravda.Ru.
