Al-Marsad Newspaper: A study conducted by scientists from the Spanish Institute for Biomedical Research, IDIBAPS, revealed that foods rich in carotene help prevent atherosclerosis.

The Journal of Clinical Nutrition explained that foods rich in carotenoids are found in yellow, orange and green fruits and vegetables.

Atherosclerosis is accompanied by the accumulation of cholesterol on the inner walls of the blood vessels, which leads to narrowing and difficulty in passing blood and thus to cardiovascular disease.

The results of the study showed that a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, and thus in carotenoids, reduces the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.
