(Ottawa) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will travel to Jamaica next week for a family vacation during the holiday season.

Published yesterday at 10:37 p.m.

The Prime Minister’s Office said Mr. Trudeau will travel with his immediate family to the Caribbean country from December 26 to January 4.

Jamaica is also where Mr. Trudeau and his family spent time following Christmas last year, as they traveled to British Columbia for their summer vacation in August this year.

He will travel with Sophie Grégoire, following the couple announced earlier this year that they were separating following 18 years of marriage.

At the time, the prime minister’s office said Canadians might expect to see the family together, and both said in individual statements they would remain close.

The office says it consulted with the federal ethics commissioner before the upcoming trip, and that the family will cover the cost of their stay as well as travel costs on a government plane.

Mr. Trudeau will also remain in contact with staff and receive briefings on current issues.
