Ter Stegen was due to undergo knee surgery on Monday afternoon, as his club FC Barcelona announced. As soon as the operation is completed, Barca said, more information will be available.
The German national goalkeeper suffered a serious injury to his right knee in FC Barcelona’s league match against FC Villarreal. The 32-year-old was stretchered off the pitch shortly before half-time with the score at 2-1 for Barca and replaced by his substitute Inaki Pena.
