Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, went back to college.
The royal couple visited Stanford University on Tuesday to attend a multi-hour brainstorming session with professors and academics from the prestigious university in Palo Alto, California, a palace source that has been confirmed TODAY.
The meeting should help them with their ongoing work to build a new non-profit organization. The couple announced on their new website in January that they intended to establish a new foundation after moving their home from England to Canada.
“This geographical balance will allow us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition he was born into, and give our family the space to focus on the next chapter, including the creation of our new nonprofit . ” They write.
Harry and the former Meghan Markle flew advertisements from Canada. At Stanford, they were greeted personally by the president of the university, Marc Tessier-Lavigne.
The Duchess of Sussex is a college graduate herself, since Meghan graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree. Harry attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst when he started his military career in 2005.
It’s been a month since the couple made the surprising announcement that they would “step down” from their duties as senior members of the British royal family, causing Queen Elizabeth II to announce that the couple would no longer take public funds or would use their royal HRH titles.
They were spotted at a JPMorgan event in Miami last week at their first public appearance in weeks since the bomb was announced. Harry was also in talks with investment bank Goldman Sachs about a speech in an employee interview series that will air on YouTube, two sources told NBC News.
The couple have generally held back since founding their new North American home last month.
Meghan was seen walking Vancouver Island with her 9-month-old son Archie and her dogs last month. Harry returned to Vancouver Island after reaching an agreement with the Queen and the rest of the royal family about changes in his family’s royal duties.
