This week, the host had a field day reading the crispiest passages of this brick which, it should be remembered, broke a sales record with no less than 1.43 million copies since its publication. That says it all for the enthusiasm it arouses.
A story of parties and adventures at the South Pole, Martineau gave himself the air of a storyteller by reading an extract a day from the biography of the Duke of Sussex.
