Prohibition of Firework Sales in Tournai: Ensuring Public Safety and Curbing Cross-Border Disorder

2023-06-30 18:00:00

Because a theft of pyrotechnic material took place this Friday, June 30, in Tournai, and it appears that French subjects also come to acquire firecrackers and fireworks in order to sow disorder on the other side of the border, the mayor of Tournai, Paul-Olivier Delannois prohibits the sale of this type of material between this Friday, from 4 p.m., and until Monday July 3, at 12 p.m.

In his decree, the first magistrate of Tournai specifies that the Prefecture of the North issued a similar decree dated June 29 and that it

appropriate to take the necessary measures here too to guarantee public safety and avoid accidents.

The border is not far away and overflows are also always possible. This prohibition obviously does not apply to licensed professionals.
