Foods rich in antioxidants
With age, the body’s own antioxidant defense system weakens, so there are more free radicals. Proper nutrition helps to fill the lack of neutralizing substances. Marina Savkina named products – the main plant sources of antioxidants for humans.
-
The richest – berries (fresh and especially dried): rose hips, blueberries, currants. There are much fewer protective substances in jams and preserves.
-
Spices and herbs: mint, allspice, cinnamon, oregano, thyme, sage, rosemary.
-
Fruits and dried fruits: apples, lemons, dried apricots, prunes, dried mango.
-
Olives.
-
Red beetroot.
-
raw nuts: hazelnut, almond, walnut, peanut. Approximately the same usefulness of sunflower seeds.
-
Legumes and cereals: buckwheat, barley, lentils, beans.
-
desserts: dark and dark chocolate – the more cocoa it contains, the higher the content of antioxidants.
– Numerous studies have found that those who eat more vegetables, fruits and berries have a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, cancer, cataracts, and stroke. The amount of these products in the daily diet should be at least 400-600 grams, the expert recalled.
