Officials have warned once morest new online banking scams in Oman, claiming to update banking information. The Royal Oman Police had earlier warned not to hand over card details to unknown callers related to the banking sector.

Fraudsters send SMS and WhatsApp messages claiming to be from the bank requesting to update KYC details. Many expatriates have received such messages in the past few days. Banks in Oman have warned once morest scams where customers are sent messages and emails asking for KYC, PIN number, OTP and more.

Officials warn that the banking details should not be shared with anyone, such as PIN, OTP, CVV, card number will not be requested through phone, SMS, WhatsApp or web link. Another scam is sending a WhatsApp message saying that your ATM card will be blocked due to an anonymous transaction. Fraudulent groups use fake bank logos to send messages like this. Officials informed that you should not respond to such messages and block the number immediately and inform the bank immediately.
