Protest Stand in Habbush: Crisis of Water Cut Off and Inflated Costs

2023-08-27 17:23:40

The people of the town of Habbush carried out a protest stand near the central water tank next to the Lebanese People’s Rescue Hospital in Nabatiyeh, denouncing the crisis they are suffering from as a result of the water cut off from their town and the exorbitant costs that multiply on them as a result of the difficult living crisis.

Speeches were delivered to a number of protesters, stressing that “the reservoir near which we stand is a central reservoir for collecting water in it and thus feeding it to the ocean, especially the town of Habbush, in whose lands this reservoir is located, but it does not benefit from months of the reservoir and suffers from a suffocating crisis.”

The protesters appealed to the administrators of the South Lebanon Water Corporation to “move quickly, as not a day goes by and we hear of a crisis in every town as a result of favoritism in distribution and mishandling, as the towns live with deprivation of water, despite the fact that a large percentage pays the annual fees due on it,” declaring that they “will step up their movement.” In the event that the demand to return water to Habbush is not met.
