Beijing: Protests once morest strict Covid restrictions continue in China. People and police clashed in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou. The video is out.

Another video of people being taken away in handcuffs has also gone viral. On Wednesday, the authorities announced that the Covid restrictions will be relaxed in many districts. The BBC reported that protests took place in Haishu district on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Haishu was also the scene of the Covid protests earlier this month.

The protests were sparked by a fire in the western Xinjiang region that killed 10 people last Thursday. People in cities including Shanghai and Beijing took to the streets demanding the withdrawal of strict covid restrictions and the resignation of President Xi Jinping.

The protests later subsided amid a heavy police presence at the demonstration site.
