The last training of PSG near Faro (Portugal) delivered new lessons, two days before the quarter-final of the Champions League against Bergamo. The first information is that Thomas Tuchel and his staff still have doubts about the name of the midfielder who will replace Marco Verratti, forfeit (right calf).
After having tested Ander Herrera for nearly an hour during the collective session on Sunday evening, the German technician has, this Monday, started Leandro Paredes during the opposition.
Like the Spaniard the day before, the Argentinian accompanied, in a three-way environment, Marquinhos and Idrissa Gueye. The staff has been working on the offensive transition and counter-attack exercises since Monday. Herrera’s mobility could be decisive against a Paredes, more precise but less lively.
Mbappé is doing well
Another lesson of the session, the state of form of Kylian Mbappé. The world champion continues his recovery with the group and again participated in the opposition. His presence on the sidelines seems assured, 19 days after an injury to the right ankle.
During a session marked by the presence of many spectators, behind the bushes of the Quinta do Lago training center, Tuchel also tried a slightly different system. Still four in defense and three in the middle, he positioned Neymar in number 10 during the counter-attack phases in order to let Icardi (right) and Sarabia (left) rush towards the goal.
A 4-3-3 in the form of 4-3-1-2, therefore. Even the replacements made by the staff are repetitive: Mbappé, Choupo-Moting, Herrera, Bakker and Draxler were the most called-up players in today’s exercise at eleven against eleven.
The probable composition: Navas – Kehrer, Thiago Silva (ch.), Kimpembe, Bernat – Herrera (or Paredes), Marquinhos, Gueye – Sarabia, Icardi, Neymar.
