Punjab: 21 people killed, 5 injured in a single day due to lightning – Pakistan

In South Punjab, the number of deaths due to lightning has increased to 21 in one day, 9 men, 5 women and 7 children were killed.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) spokesperson, lightning strikes occurred in Muzaffargarh, Rahimyar Khan, Rajanpur, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.

According to PDMA, lightning killed 3 people in Bahawalnagar, 3 in Bahawalpur, 9 in Rahimyar Khan, 1 in Muzaffargarh, 1 in Rajanpur, 1 in Kot Addu and 3 in Lodhran.

DGPDMA appealed to citizens to take precautionary measures in case of inclement weather and stay in safe places during torrential rains and lightning.

Irfan Ali Kathia directed that all organizations, including rescue, should be on alert.

He further said to check weather conditions before travel and avoid unnecessary travel, call PDMA helpline 1129 in case of emergency.
