Putin congratulates Macron on re-election success… “I wish the government success”

MOSCOW (Yonhap News) Correspondent Yoo Cheol-jong = Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron on his successful re-election on the 25th (local time).

The Kremlin said in a press release on the same day that Putin had sent a congratulatory message to President Macron, who had been re-elected.

“I sincerely wish you success in your work in state affairs, and I wish you good health and well-being,” Putin said in the preamble.

Putin’s congratulatory message was delivered while relations between Russia and the West, including France, were still at their worst due to the Ukraine crisis.

France’s Interior Ministry announced on the same day that in the election results held the day before, Macron won 58.54% of the vote, beating the National Coalition (RN) candidate Marine Le Pen, who got 41.46%.
