Putin’s Press Conference: Clashes with Russia, Ukrainian Crisis, and African Initiatives

2023-07-29 20:56:28

Putin said this during a press conference the day following he met African leaders in St. Petersburg:

• If someone wants a clash with Russia, we are ready and prepared for that.
• No one wants a direct clash between NATO and the Russian forces in Syria, and if anyone wants that, we are ready.
• Russia bombed the places where drones were produced, with which Kiev targeted the Crimean Bridge.
• A cease-fire is out of the question as the Ukrainian attacks continue.
• Ukrainian forces suffer heavy losses and no major changes on the battlefield.
• Ukraine has lost, since June 4, 415 tanks, 1,300 armored vehicles, and two-thirds of the vehicles it lost in Western battles.
• We did not reject dialogue on the Ukrainian crisis.
• The African initiative for the crisis in Ukraine may be a basis upon which peace can be built.
• During the period of the grain deal, less than 3 percent of all grain exported from Ukraine went to the poorest countries.
• We will start sending free Russian grain to African countries within 3-4 months.
• Russia will not store gas in large quantities in Türkiye, as it is a platform for trade.
• The establishment of a gas center in Türkiye is still on the agenda.
