Doha: A new strain of Covid has been found in Qatar. EG.5, a sub-variant of Kovid 19, was found in Qatar. The Ministry of Public Health confirmed the registration of limited cases of the new sub-variant on August 31.
The ministry clarified that the registered cases are mild and do not require hospitalization at this stage. The Ministry also stated that the epidemic situation of the new covid variant is being closely monitored. Earlier this month, the World Health Organization had warned regarding a new sub-variant of Kovid 19 called EG.5. So far it has been reported in more than 50 countries including the Gulf region.
