R145 Million PowerBall & PowerBall Plus: Results for Tuesday, 17 March 2026

South African lottery players have another chance at a substantial jackpot, with an estimated R145 million up for grabs in the PowerBall and PowerBall Plus draws on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The significant prize pool follows a run of 14 consecutive rollovers, after Friday the 13th’s draw failed to produce a winner.

Friday’s PowerBall numbers were 01, 03, 27, 45, and 50, with the PowerBall number being 17. For PowerBall Plus, the numbers drawn were 09, 14, 23, 34, and 36, with a PowerBall of 20.

The current jackpot represents a considerable increase from the average PowerBall payout of R22 million, exceeding it by more than five times. It also approaches the R179-million PowerBall jackpot won in January 2026, marking one of the largest potential payouts in recent history.

The combined prize for Tuesday’s draw consists of R100 million for PowerBall and R45 million for PowerBall Plus. A standard ticket costs R5 per board for PowerBall and R2.50 for PowerBall Plus, totaling R7.50. Players have a 1 in 42,310,200 chance of winning the PowerBall jackpot.

While the PowerBall jackpot is attracting significant attention, the Lotto draw also offers a substantial prize of R67 million. Lotto tickets cost R5 per board, with an additional R2.50 for Plus 1 and 2, totaling R10. The odds of winning the Lotto jackpot are slightly more favorable, at 1 in 40,310,358. The average Lotto jackpot payout is R5.95 million, making the current prize more than ten times the average.

The National Lottery operator is scheduled to change from ITHUBA to Sizekhaya Holdings in June 2026, but operations remain unchanged for the time being. Tickets for Tuesday’s draw are available until 20:30, with the official draw taking place at 21:00. Tickets can be purchased via the National Lottery website, through the Mobile App, or at participating retailers.

Players claiming winnings must be 18 years or older, possess a valid identification document, and have a South African bank account no older than three months. Prizes up to R2,000 can be claimed at retail stores. Winnings between R10,000 and R49,999 must be claimed at an Approved Prize Payment Centre (APPC). Amounts from R49,999 to R249,999 can be claimed via EFT from participating banks (excluding African Bank, which has a limit of R49,999). Prizes exceeding R250,000 require an in-person claim at an ITHUBA office. All winnings must be claimed within 365 days of the draw date.
