Women’s Minister Susanne Raab (ÖVP) is traveling to the USA next week. The occasion is the 67th session of the UN Commission on Women’s Rights in New York, which Raab will attend tomorrow and Tuesday. This year’s conference theme is “Innovation and Technological Change and Education in the Digital Age for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls”.

Tomorrow followingnoon the Minister for Women will give a speech as part of the general debate. On the fringes of the conference, which begins tomorrow and lasts until March 17, Raab will meet with Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, Singapore’s Minister for Family Affairs Sun Xueling and representatives of UN organizations, according to her ministry.

As part of her visit to New York, she will also present around ten people with Austrian citizenship and open an exhibition regarding Hedy Lamarr in the Kulturforum, it said. It is of great importance that the topic “Women in Tech” is widely debated at this year’s conference, because bringing more women into technical and better-paid professions is also a focus of her women’s policy, Raab said in a statement beforehand.
