Rachel Rosier: It’s never easy losing a loved one, especially when you’re young. Losing my brother Ephraim when I was just 11 was incredibly difficult. He suffered from a rare pain disease,and the attention he needed meant,ironically,I never felt deprived. Ten years later, losing my mother to metastatic breast cancer at 21 was a different kind of pain. It forced me to grow up quickly and learn to rely on my inner strength. It definitely changed my perspective on life and what truly matters.

Rachel Rosier: It was surreal, to say the least.Two weeks after losing my mom, I found out I was pregnant. It was a wonderful surprise, incredibly welcome, but also… daunting. I was a journalism student,Newly married to my husband,a police officer,and we were not prepared financially. It added another layer of stress to an already difficult situation,but it also was the light i needed in such a dark time.”

Archyde News: Many women rely on their mothers for guidance during pregnancy and early motherhood. how did you cope with that absence?

Rachel Rosier: That was probably the hardest part.”I had no idea what was happening to to me with my first pregnancy, nobody told me. Normally,you call your mother.” It’s true!Not having her advice or support during such a pivotal time was incredibly isolating. I missed her terribly and still do, especially during those moments when I wish I could just pick up the phone and ask her something.

rachel Rosier: “While the pain of losing my mother remains,I have found ‘closure‘. Of course I miss my mother vrey much at certain moments, but not every day either.” closure isn’t about forgetting, but about accepting the loss and finding a way to integrate it into your life.For me,it was realizing that her love and influence are still present,even though she’s not physically here. Talking about her,sharing memories,and honoring her legacy have all helped me to find peace.
