Guwahati: Kerala’s second match of the Ranji Trophy season ended in a draw. In yesterday’s match once morest Assam, the visitors took the lead in the first innings and won all three points.
Assam also got a point. The visitors, who followed on the fourth day, were in a strong position of 212 runs for three wickets in the second innings and the match was tied. Score: Kerala 419, Assam 248, 212/3.
Kerala player Sachin Baby who scored 131 runs in the first innings became the player of the match. Assam resumed batting at 231 at 7 am yesterday and were bowled out for 248 in the first innings. Basil Thambi took five wickets and Jalaj Saxena four. Kerala got a lead of 171 runs. Following on, the hosts crossed 200 thanks to opener Rahul Hazarika’s (107) century. The Kerala-Uttar Pradesh match was also tied.
Mumbai will be the opponents in the third match starting on January 19. Kerala is fifth in Group B with four points.
