The site is owned by the Angolan government and the Lucapa Diamond Company. The authorities intend to sell the diamond by calling an international tender. In 2017, the 59.6-carat Pink Star was sold for $7.12 million at an auction in Hong Kong. This is the first time that a diamond fetches such a high price.
