URGENT: FPI Elects Pascal Boulanger for 5-Year Mandate to Ensure Sector Stability
In a critical move during the 53rd FPI Congress held at MUCEM in Marseille, the Federation of Real Estate Promoters (FPI) has adopted a temporary modification of its statutes. This decision paves the way for Pascal Boulanger to be elected, unanimously, as the new president for an exceptional five-year mandate.
Ensuring Stability in Crucial Political Times
Speaking on the occasion, Pascal Boulanger highlighted the significance of this decision at a time when housing policy is set to become a central political issue. boulanger noted that the FPI’s move to ensure coherence and continuity is essential to best defend the interests of both homeowners and tenants. “At a time when housing must become a central political subject again, the FPI has chosen coherence, continuity and readability, to best defend the interests of the housing of our fellow citizens, whether owners or tenants. I am honored with the renewal of confidence of the members of the FPI. I have more than ever the necessary energy for this mission,” specify Pascal Boulanger.
Avoiding the Next Political Turmoil
The decision comes after a close examination of the current mandate which was set to expire in June 2027, coinciding with an impending major political restructuring following the presidential election of 2027. With a context where the first few weeks of a new mandate are crucial, a change of presidency within the FPI could have significantly weakened its influence.
A Non-Renewable 5-Year Mandate
To avoid this predicament, the Federal Council proposed and the extraordinary general assembly on June 24 overwhelmingly supported the creation of a single, non-renewable five-year mandate. This exceptional measure was adopted with nearly unanimous support, barring two abstentions.
Pascal Boulanger will now lead the FPI until 2030, offering stability during pivotal election years, including the upcoming municipal elections in 2026 and the subsequent legislative elections. This measure is a temporary deviation from the standard three-year renewable mandates, which will resume from 2030 onwards.
Evergreen Context: The Role of FPI in Housing Policy
The FPI has long been a key player in advocating for policies that foster stability within the real estate sector. With political coups and economic uncertainties around the corner, a stable leadership within the FPI ensures that the voice of the sector remains loud and clear throughout the political restructuring.
Expert insights from housing analysts underscore the importance of a unified voice during periods of transition. “Stability during transitional periods is key to maintaining investor and consumer confidence,” states housing analyst Marie Claire Dupont.
