London: UK Malayalees are saddened by another news of death. Uma Pillai, 45, of Fleet Wood, near Woodford, East London, died. Husband Jayan Pillai. She is the daughter-in-law of Gopi Pillai and Sarala couple. He was living in the UK with his family. Details not available.

Five boats caught fire in UAE, expatriate injured
Sharjah: Five boats caught fire in Sharjah, one injured. The police informed that the boats anchored in Sharjah Creek caught fire on Saturday morning. The expatriate employee who was on the boat was injured. He was admitted to the hospital.

Sharjah Police received information regarding the fire at 8.31 am. An emergency response team was immediately dispatched to the spot. Sharjah Civil Defense authorities reached the spot and brought the fire under control. The injured expatriate was admitted to Sharjah Al Qasimi Hospital. Reports say the injuries are not serious. Officials of the relevant departments have started an investigation to find out the cause of the fire.
