Belgium is therefore officially experiencing the very first heat wave in September in its history, according to reports published by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) at the end of the morning. The thermometer exceeded, for the 5th consecutive day, the 25°C mark on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Uccle, a condition for this meteorological episode to be considered a heat wave.

This is the second heatwave episode of this type in Belgium this year. The first heat wave lasted 10 days and ended in mid-June.

Until next Monday, the yellow code for heat applies to the whole country, with the exception of the coastal region and the province of Luxembourg.
