Red Bull F1 team principal Christian Horner said he had replaced it with a new rear wing during the session after a mechanic found a hairline crack in Max Verstappen’s rear wing during his third free run at the F1 US Grand Prix. ..
At the Circuit of the Americas, high temperatures and pumped roads have been two major topics so far, and Ferrari’s Laurent Mequis feels that some teams have worse bumps than expected. It points out that there is.
The bumpy surface may have cracked the rear wing of Max Verstappen. Christian Horner revealed that he had replaced the rear wing, adding that all the cars were running wild on the circuit.
“One of the mechanics found something that looked like a hairline crack, so we took no risk and changed the components,” Christian Horner told Sky Sports.
“You can see the car getting pretty rough around here. It’s a good place for everyone and it’s good to replace it.”
Temperatures are expected to rise prior to qualifying, but Christian Horner does not expect that to be a major issue.
“It doesn’t make much of a difference and it won’t get too hot. It depends on whether the wind moves or strengthens, because it’s pretty rough.”
“It can be quite complicated, especially in Sector 1, but I hope it will be a reasonable indicator.”
