Redirecting Funds: Exclusive Insights on Halting Football Club Support and Boosting Special Operations

The State Duma proposed to stop supporting football clubs and send extra money to the needs of special operations. This initiative was made by the first deputy chairman of the Duma Defense Committee, Alexey Zhuravlev.

“In general, I would directly prohibit the budget and large Russian corporations from maintaining football clubs. It would be better if the extra money was transferred to the special operation, and not distributed to bandy-legged football players,” said Alexey Zhuravlev. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to him, salaries for football players should be given by dividing the money that fans paid for tickets. He emphasized that for the billions that Russian players receive, any team might win the “universal championship.”
