Thursday January 18, 2024, the national transition advisors adopted a bill to redivide greater Conakry into ten communes and 7 localities in the prefectures of Siguiri, Kouroussa and Gueckédou into rural communes. In Greater Conakry, it is now the Commune of Gbessia, Matoto and Tombolia from the former urban commune of Matoto, the communes of Ratoma, Lambanyi and Sonfonia from the former urban commune of Ratoma, the Communes of Dubreka and Kagbelen from the former urban commune of Dubréka, the Communes of Sanoyah and Maneah from the former rural commune of Manéah.

“The redistribution of municipalities is necessary because the country can be well run. It is not only necessary for administrative recomposition, it is above all necessary for the administration to get closer to the citizens.”
