Dick Advocaat had not taken into account that Feyenoord would qualify against Fortuna Sittard (1-2 win) in the extension for the quarterfinals of the TOTO KNVB Cup on Tuesday. Luciano Narsingh prevented a penalty series in Sittard in the 120th minute, where the game that was stopped last week was completed.
The game was stopped last week after 63 minutes at an 1-1 score due to the thick fog. No score was scored in the remainder of the regular playing time and a large part of the extension, but Narsingh scored the winning goal in the final minute.
“We were already preparing for penalties,” admitted a relieved Lawyer after the game in conversation with FOX Sports. “We really had a lot of trouble with the field, which looked just like a slide. As a result, too many of our players were not in the game.”
Feyenoord had some difficulty with Fortuna in the extension, which had the initiative and got the best opportunities. The team from Rotterdam were grateful to goalkeeper Justin Bijlow that promising shots by Mark Diemers and Felix Passlack were not effective.
“Justin is just a good keeper and a boy for the future, I have no doubts about that,” said Advocaat. “Fortuna is a very annoying team on this field, because they are better used to these circumstances. But it should not be an excuse.”

Berghuis: ‘We are in one winning mood“
While Lawyer was already sitting with his head in a penalty shootout series, Steven Berghuis still had complete confidence that Feyenoord would attract the game in the extension. The captain saw the perseverance of his team rewarded in the final minute.
“We certainly went for it, otherwise we would not have been in front of the opponent’s goal with so many people,” said Berghuis, who is pleased that Feyenoord continued the strong series under Advocaat. The number three in the Eredivisie did not lose any league or cup duel after the Classic against Ajax in October.
“We just work hard and because of the results, the trust is back in the team. We are in a kind winning mood, but it can just be different. That’s why we have to keep working hard. “
Due to the oppressive victory over Fortuna Sittard, Feyenoord is allowed to take on sc Heerenveen in the quarterfinals. The Frisians dealt with Willem II, the losing cup finalist of last season, after penalties last week.
