Kochi: Teacher and writer CR. Omanakuttan’s body was cremated. The body was cremated with official honors at the Ravipuram public crematorium on Sunday.
It was put up for public viewing at the Kadawantra Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
Actors Mammootty and Manoj K. Jayan, Fahad Fazil, Jayasuriya, Soubin Shahir Director Ashiq Abu Writer M.K. Sanu and others came to pay their respects.
CR was in a private hospital in Kochi on Saturday following a heart attack. Death of Omanakuttan (80). Nathayam is a native of Tirunakkara.
He has written more than 25 books and more than 150 stories and is a winner of Kerala Sahitya Akademi. ‘Shavam Theenikal’, written regarding Rajan, who was killed by the police during the Emergency, is a noted work.
Worked as a teacher in Maharajas College for 23 years.
He also worked as a journalist in Cinema magazine, Prabhatham and Grantholokam. Director Amal Neerad is his son.
