Ark of Noah Finds New Home in Amsterdam

The Ark of Noah, a full-scale replica of the biblical vessel, will soon set sail for a new destination: Amsterdam. Wim Beelen, owner of Larendael,an entertainment and business complex, has stepped in to offer Johan Huibers, the Ark’s current owner, assistance with its renovation and relocation. The ark is currently located in Krimpen aan den IJssel and is slated to arrive in Amsterdam on Larendael’s grounds.

A Multifaceted Destination

“The original intention of keeping the story alive remains, but there is also space for a thousand workplaces, two theaters, presentation halls for a thousand peopel, conference rooms, and a restaurant. The Ark offers endless possibilities,”

Beelen stated on LinkedIn.

Initially, plans where in motion for the Ark to travel to Israel. Though, this route has been altered due to unforeseen circumstances. “Huibers is still the owner,” Beelen clarified, despite the relocation to Amsterdam.

shift in Plans and Disappointment

Daniël Vandy, finance officer of Stichting Breng de ark thuis (Bring the ark home Foundation), expressed his deep disappointment regarding the change in plans. He revealed that the deal with Huibers fell through due to difficulties in proving the origin of funds from israeli investors. Beelen than stepped in to offer support.

Vandy’s earlier plans to open the Ark to the public in April and subsequently embark on a journey to Israel seem to be dashed. He has consequently canceled all pre-bookings for visits during April and May. Despite the setback, Vandy holds out hope that his initial plan may be executed in the future.

A focus on Preservation and Exploration

Beelen remained non-committal about vandy’s future plans, stating, “The moast important thing is that the Ark is not demolished and that non-believers in Amsterdam have the prospect to become acquainted with the message of the Ark. What will happen ultimately, I don’t know.”

The Ark of Noah’s journey symbolizes more than just a physical relocation. It represents a chance to preserve a powerful narrative and offer a platform for exploration and reflection on faith, history, and the enduring human fascination with stories of survival and renewal.
