Intense Competition at the 44th City Championship

The 44th conventional City Championship culminated on Sunday, September 21st, attracting substantial crowds eager to witness competitive shooting and enjoy camaraderie. The event, held at the rifle house, provided both lunch and spirited competition for attendees. A dedicated light rifle trailer accommodated seven younger participants, fostering early engagement in the sport.

Adult Participation and Electronic Scoring System

Adult participation considerably exceeded expectations, with 39 teams competing, including 11 exclusively women’s teams. A total of 156 individuals participated, with 59 actively shooting.This year’s championship utilized an electronic scoring system, a change implemented last year that initially required some adjustment for seasoned participants. The KKS evaluation team noted the remarkably close results across both genders, necessitating tie-breaker rounds.

Results and Champions Emerge

eleven male shooters entered a custody round to determine the top performers, while a smaller field of two tied women competed for the title. Ultimately, Kamil trojan emerged victorious amongst the men with a score of 47 rings, securing third place overall. His teammate, Fabian Zorn, achieved 48 rings but conceded victory to Roland Friedrich from TSV Clubhaus Ü50. In the women’s category, Romy Sinn prevailed in a second jump-off against a teammate, securing second place with 48 rings. Jenny Tesch followed closely in third place, also with 48 rings.

The competition witnessed a standout performance from Selina Manke of TC Grün-Weiß Kraichtal, who achieved a perfect score of 50 rings – the highest result in recent years. Winners were awarded meal vouchers, generously donated by Tobias Borho on behalf of the city of Kraichtal.

Light Gun Shooting and Team Rankings

The light gun shooting event also proved fiercely competitive. Jannis Claassen earned third place with 86 rings, narrowly ahead of Josephin Oßfeld’s 87 rings. Klara Trojan claimed victory with an impressive 89 rings. In the team rankings, the volunteer fire brigade Upper Austria demonstrated strong dominance, claiming the top five spots and ultimately winning the competition with a score of 183 rings, regaining the coveted challenge cup.

Witzenmann-Speck secured second place with 181 rings, followed by Team Ma.jo with 180 rings. The OWK women achieved third place with 174 rings, while the TC Grün-Weiß Kraichtal women secured second place with 176 rings, and the kitchen women successfully defended their championship title with 180 rings.

Special Awards

A freshly shot roebuck was awarded to the team with the lowest team divider, which was the small pub team, boasting a divider of 2.693 rings. Monika Israel was the lucky recipient of a Schwarten stomach, donated by the local butcher, raffled among shooters with the lowest individual scores.The volunteer fire brigade Upper Austria also received the cup for fielding the most teams – a total of five.
