Berlin According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the health authorities in Germany reported 11,192 new corona infections within one day on Sunday morning. Exactly one week ago there were 12,257 new infections reported. On Sunday, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted 2,216,363 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany.
The number of reported deaths related to the corona virus rose by 399 to a total of 56,945. As of Sunday a week ago, 349 cases were reported in which patients died in connection with the virus. The total number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 56,945.
The nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.92 according to the RKI situation report on Saturday (previous day 0.92). This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 92 more people. The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
