April 30th marks the 30th anniversary of the Salzburger’s death. The parents were presented with two banners in honor of the deceased.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Roland Ratzenberger’s death, family and friends met on Tuesday to commemorate the Salzburg Formula 1 driver. He had a fatal accident in qualifying for the Grand Prix in Imola 30 years ago. At the joint remembrance at Mirabellplatz, parents Margit and Rudolf Ratzenberger were presented with two banners by Salzburg’s mayor-designate Bernhard Auinger and Progress advertising boss Fred Kendlbacher, which will commemorate the Formula 1 driver in the Tosa curve in Imola.

Auinger: “Lived his dream until the last second”

“From early childhood, Roland was fascinated by motorsport and lived his dream until the last second. After the unfortunate weekend in Imola, safety standards in Formula 1 were improved. The banner with the tribute motif in Imola will always be a reminder of Roland Ratzenberger,” summarizes the designated mayor Bernhard Auinger.
