Georginio Wijnaldum reflects on the extension proposal submitted to him by his club Liverpool.
The Reds of Liverpool are eager to get their Dutch midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum to sign a new lease before the latter becomes free from all commitments next summer. But, their wish comes up against the position of the interested party.
Wijnaldum wants more time to consider his options, but has vowed to let Liverpool officials know before speaking to potential courtiers in the New Year.
Wijnaldum is one of the main cadre of European champions. This season, he is one of the four players who have played the most games in the Reds squad. And he has the third longest playing time (1712 minutes).
His arrival at Anfield dates from 2016 and from Newcastle. He has made 202 appearances and scored 20 goals in total for the formation of Jurgen Klopp. He was one of the architects of the treble in 2016, and also of the national coronation conquered last August.
Koeman wants Wijnaldum in Barcelona
The former member of Feyenoord is currently desired by his former coach Ronald Koeman. The latter would like to attract him to Barcelona just like his compatriot Memphis Depay. Obviously, the leaders of Liverpool do not hear it that way.
Wijnaldum is not the only player currently being rumored to be leaving Liverpool. This is also the case of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian would be attracted by a challenge in Spain.
