Russia: explosion of a gas pipeline in the region of Saint Petersburg

A gas pipeline exploded in the northern Russian city of St. Petersburg on Saturday, Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko reported. The explosion is believed to have occurred between Berngardovka and Kovalyovo, the governor said on Telegram.

It is not known if there were any casualties or what caused the explosion. Before we knew it was a gas pipeline, the explosion of a service station was mentioned. The plume of smoke that followed the explosion was visible for miles around.
