This is not the first surreal scene for the United Nations. The Security Council, the most important organ of the United Nations, however experienced a spectacular one on Monday: it was a public debate devoted to the “maintenance of international peace and security”. It was Russia who was the initiator, as President of the Security Council during the month of April. Moscow sought to pursue a double objective, according to his explanations: to improve the “effectiveness” of multilateralism, and to enforce the principles of the United Nations Charter.
