The British judiciary has dropped the charges once morest Welshman Ryan Giggs, the former Manchester United star, who is accused of violence once morest his ex-girlfriend and her sister, according to what the Public Prosecution Office announced yesterday.
Giggs, 49, was scheduled to be tried for the second time on July 31, following a month-long trial ended last year without the jury reaching a verdict, but the prosecution announced yesterday during a preliminary hearing that the charges had been dropped.
Prosecutor Peter Wright confirmed that Giggs’ ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville, “did not want to testify once more and in this case, we are not officially presenting any evidence for the first, second and third counts.” This is not a decision taken lightly.
Judge Hilary Manley replied, “I formally declare not guilty on these counts.”
