The Governor has received legal advice that the Chief Minister’s recommendation regarding the return of Saji Cherian to the Cabinet cannot be rejected. Governor may seek further clarification if necessary.
The Governor sought legal advice from the Standing Council. The governor will arrive in the capital tomorrow evening.
The government is waiting for the Governor’s decision regarding the oath. Saji Cherian’s controversial speech criticizing the Constitution was on July 3. He resigned on July 6 following criticism. The stage was set for the return when the police investigated the case and reported that there was no crime.
